10% Ragged Clipped Planchet
1926-S 5C -- 10% Ragged Clipped Planchet -- AU58 PCGS.
Straight clips occur when the planchet cutter overlaps the border
of the coinage strip. Ragged clips are much rarer, limited to the
cutter overrunning the end of the strip. The edge clip is between 3
and 5 o'clock and appears fairly straight with minor fissures at
its center. Characteristic for the error type, the strike is
incomplete near the clip. The dusky golden-brown surfaces appear
unworn but we note an inconspicuous thin diagonal mark on the
bison's flank. The 1926-S is a key lower mintage issue of 970,000
