    1926-S Nickel, Mildly Lustrous AU55

1926-S 5C AU55 PCGS. The 1926-S Buffalo nickel is the only issue in the series with a mintage below 1 million pieces (970,000 coins), and is consistently elusive in Mint State. This Choice AU representative is a well-detailed, more affordable alternative. Both sides retain satiny luster beneath rich olive-gold patina. Trivial weakness on the bison's shoulder and the hair above the Indian's braid is from a combination of brief circulation and a mildly insufficient strike.(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 22S7, PCGS# 3959)
