Description

1926-S Buffalo Nickel, MS64
Just 20 Numerically Finer at PCGS

1926-S 5C MS64 PCGS. CAC. Several conditional rarities in the Buffalo nickel series are generally available in grades up to Very Fine, infrequently encountered in higher circulated grades, and rarely seen in Mint State grades. One of those is the 1926-S that invariably has indistinct details. This Choice Mint State example is typical, with the hair braids flat and the tops of LIBERTY poorly brought up. On the reverse, the bison's head is partially detailed, and the tail is flat. However, the brilliant nickel-gray luster, gold toning, and splendid rainbow accents, especially on the obverse, provides a high degree of eye appeal. PCGS has examined just 20 numerically finer examples of this issue. CAC: 32 in 64, 5 finer (7/25).(Registry values: N4719)
