Description

Choice 1926-S Buffalo Nickel
Lowest Mintage of the Series

1926-S 5C MS64 PCGS. The 1926-S is a prized issue in the Buffalo nickel series, with a series-low mintage of 970,000 pieces. Examples in MS64 condition are quite scarce, and PCGS has graded only 11 coins in higher numeric grades (9/11).
The 1926-S is almost never seen with a sharp strike, but this delightful Choice specimen shows sharp definition in most areas, with just a little softness on the Indian's braid. The mint luster is vibrant and satiny, also unusual on this issue, which is often seen with greasy, unattractive luster. The unmarked surfaces are spectacularly toned in shades of green, violet, and ice-blue. Few examples of this sought-after date can match the appeal of this memorable specimen.
