    Description

Very Scarce 1926-S Buffalo Nickel, MS64 PCGS

1926-S 5C MS64 PCGS. The undisputed key to the Buffalo Nickel series, the 1926-S is a low mintage date with just 970,000 pieces produced. Mint State coins are very scarce, and Gems nearly unknown. Worn reverse dies are the norm, and the bison's head is normally weak. The example in this lot exhibits a somewhat above average strike, though portions of the Indian's hair are soft. Most of the bison reveals decent detail, and the horn is quite sharp. The peripheral elements are bold. Light gray toning is accented by crimson, gold, and pale blue toning in the fields. A few small ticks scattered about are not bothersome.(#3959) (Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 22S7, PCGS# 3959)

    Weight: 5.00 grams

    Metal: 75% Copper, 25% Nickel
