    Description

    Sharp 1928-S Buffalo Nickel, MS66
    Tied for Finest Certified

1928-S 5C MS66 NGC. The 1928-S Buffalo nickel is an issue that fortunately is often found with sharp details and an overall good appearance. Although it is sometimes grouped with later mintmarked issues in the series that are less elusive, such as the 1929-S, 1930-S, and 1931-S emissions, that is an error that series aficionados do not commit. In point of fact, the 1928-S in top grades is much more difficult than those later pieces, in that respect having much more in common with the 1927-S.
This example, like most, is sharply if not fully struck, with bright mint luster enlivening the light rose and lilac toning on both sides. In MS66 this piece is one of the six finest certified at NGC (4/09). There are likewise none finer at PCGS.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 22SD, PCGS# 3965)

    Weight: 5.00 grams
