1928-S Buffalo Nickel, MS67
Better Date in High Grade

1928-S 5C MS67 NGC. The 1928-S Buffalo nickel is a better date in high grade, from a mintage of 6.9 million pieces. Many lower-grade specimens were culled from circulation in the 1930s, when hoarding S-mint coins was popular, but Mint State examples with sharp details are seldom encountered in today's market. The present coin is a spectacular Superb Gem with sharply detailed design elements and vibrant mint luster on both sides. Mingled shades of ice-blue, champagne-gold, lime-green, and violet toning create a delightful play of colors. Even on close inspection, the pleasing surfaces reveal no mentionable distractions, and eye appeal is terrific. Census: 1 in 67, 0 finer (12/12).(Registry values: N4719)
