Description
1929-S Nickel, Wondrously Toned MS67 ★
The Finest-Certified NGC Example
1929-S 5C MS67 ★ NGC. Blushes of honey-gold, powder-blue,
and orange patina embrace this crisply struck and well-preserved
branch mint nickel. The innermost feather is only partially
present, the result of a lapped die, and the Indian has faint
clashmarks (as made) from IN GOD WE TRUST below the chin. Four
other 1929-S nickels have been certified as MS67 by NGC with none
finer (11/11). However, only the present Superb Gem has
additionally received a Star designation from that service, which
denotes superior eye appeal. Thus, this is the single highest
NGC-graded 1929-S nickel.Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2004), lot 5442, where it brought $8,050.
