Description

1931-S Buffalo Nickel, MS67
Unsurpassed Technical Merit

1931-S 5C MS67 CACG. Since no other nickels were struck in 1931, the 1931-S is immediately identifiable by the date alone. The mintage was low by Buffalo nickel standards -- only 1.2 million pieces were struck. Few of those survive anywhere near the quality of this Superb Gem. Vibrant satiny luster engulfs both sides of this sharply struck example, with razor-sharp definition on both sides and splendid original toning. Iridescent colors appear at the rims and at the bison's hind quarters, while delightful prairie-gold shades play across the smooth fields and well-defined motifs. The eye appeal is terrific. This coin is housed in a CACG holder with its implicit CAC endorsement. Neither PCGS nor NGC report any finer examples (1/25).(Registry values: N2998)
