Description

1931-S Nickel, Bold MS67
Marvelous Preservation and Patina

1931-S 5C MS67 PCGS. CAC. The 1931-S Buffalo nickel does not exhibit a particularly steep grade-price curve; well-circulated examples command higher-than-normal prices compared to most S-mint issues in the series, yet coins in the lower Mint State grades are fairly available. The present Superb Gem example, however, is one of only three coins at this ultimate level at PCGS, and three others appear at NGC with none finer (3/13). The incredible eye appeal is a combination of beautiful preservation, a bold strike, and marvelous toning, pale pink and ice-blue prevailing against accents of rim gold. This piece will, and should, find its way into a top-flight Registry Set. Population: 3 in 67, 0 finer (3/13).(Registry values: N2998)
