    Description

    1934-D Nickel, MS66+
None Certified Finer at Either Service

1934-D 5C MS66+ PCGS. CAC. Nearly 7.5 million Buffalo nickels were produced at the Denver Mint in 1934, but not a single Superb Gem has been certified by either PCGS or NGC -- a stunning verification of the strike problems that existed at the branch mint. While this example has great eye appeal and a far-better strike than most, even it shows a touch of blending above the braid knot, although the bison is bold.

The coin is beautiful to behold, with gleaming, satin-smooth surfaces and silver-blue highlights among gold and lilac shades and strong mint luster. There are no marks, spots, or other distractions. Just two other nickels have received the Plus designation from PCGS, suggesting that this example is certainly among the finest known of the issue. Population: 59 in 66 (3 in 66+), 0 finer (7/14).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 22SM, PCGS# 3973)

    Weight: 5.00 grams

    Metal: 75% Copper, 25% Nickel
