1935 Buffalo Nickel, AU58
FS-801, Doubled Die Reverse
'Extremely Rare in Any Grade'

1935 5C Doubled Die Reverse, FS-801, AU58 ANACS. Die 1. Formerly FS-018. Bold die doubling exists on the reverse of this Cherrypickers' variety -- the stronger of the two Doubled Die Reverse varieties listed for the 1935 Buffalo nickel. This FS-801 example is "extremely rare in any grade above Very Fine. About 10 are known in Mint State" according to Cherrypickers.' This near-Mint coin shows wide doubling at FIVE CENTS and on UNITED, as well as at E PLURIBUS UNUM. A thin overlay of tan-gold toning confirms the original surfaces of this AU58 nickel. The coin is housed in an early small-size ANACS holder.
