1935 5C Doubled Die Reverse, FS-801, AU58 ANACS. Die 1.
Formerly FS-018. Bold die doubling exists on the reverse of this
Cherrypickers' variety -- the stronger of the two Doubled
Die Reverse varieties listed for the 1935 Buffalo nickel. This
FS-801 example is "extremely rare in any grade above Very Fine.
About 10 are known in Mint State" according to
Cherrypickers.' This near-Mint coin shows wide doubling at
FIVE CENTS and on UNITED, as well as at E PLURIBUS UNUM. A thin
overlay of tan-gold toning confirms the original surfaces of this
AU58 nickel. The coin is housed in an early small-size ANACS
