Description

1935 Nickel, Fully Struck MS68
Among the Three Finest Certified

1935 5C MS68 NGC. A substantial mintage of 58.2 million coins belies the extreme rarity of the 1935 Buffalo nickel in this near-immaculate state of preservation. We have previously offered one other MS68 representative, graded by PCGS, on two occasions, the last time being April 2009. It brought $34,500, and we would not be surprised in the least to see this lot achieve a similarly strong price. Each side is brilliant and lustrous with an exceptional full strike. The mattelike surfaces appear devoid of contact, though we note one tiny fleck on the Indian's forehead. Our records indicate this to be only the third time since 1993 that an example in this grade has traded at auction. A not-to-be-missed opportunity. Census: 2 in 68 (1 in 68 ), 0 finer (11/16).(Registry values: N4719)
