    Description

    Scintillating 1935 Nickel, MS68

1935 5C MS68 PCGS. According to the Population Report, PCGS has graded 27 Buffalo nickels in MS68. This number covers the entire series, including both Type One and Type Two issues (11/06). That number should read 28, but this amazing 1935 nickel is so recently certified that it does not appear in the records, though this is likely to have changed by the date of the auction. Moreover, this piece, the first MS68 example certified by either grading service, dethrones the 92 PCGS Superb Gems that were formerly tied for the finest certified.
Rings of golden patina alternate with silver-blue, and a trace of lavender is noted in the centers. The luster is vibrant, and the strike is better than the norm. One or two minuscule flaws might be discernible to a sharp unaided eye; for the rest, magnification is a must. Distinctly finer than a Superb Gem and the ultimate coin for a Registry or type collector.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 22SN, PCGS# 3974)

    Weight: 5.00 grams

    Metal: 75% Copper, 25% Nickel
