1936-D Buffalo Nickel, XF40
FS-901, 3 1/2-Legged Guide Book Variety
1936-D 5C 3 1/2 Legs, FS-901, XF40 PCGS. Wear is light on
this piece, with most of the central softness due to strike and not
circulation. Each side displays uniform pewter-gray patina. The
bison's forward right leg is weakened by die lapping on this
variety, in the same field of varieties as the more famous 1937-D
Three-Legged issue. Like the 1937-D Three Legged, the 1936-D
Three-and-a-Half Legged variety is also listed in the Guide
