1937-D Buffalo Nickel, MS68 ★
Tied for Finest Certified

1937-D 5C MS68 ★ NGC. CAC. The date is well-known for the unusual Three-Legged variety of 1937-D Buffalo nickels. However, this normal or "Four-Legged" piece is notable for its amazing quality. The obverse design elements are bold with the sole exception of slight weakness at the end of the upper feather at 10 o'clock. The reverse is similarly bold with minute weakness on the bison's head. Both sides have satiny luster with exquisite orange-gold and rainbow toning with increasing intensity closer to the borders. This sensational Buffalo nickel is destined for the finest set of these coins, or for a top-quality type collection. It is truly one for the connoisseur. Census: 2 in 68 , 0 finer (1/11).(Registry values: N2998)
