Description

1937-D Buffalo Nickel, MS68
Exceptional Mintmark Type Coin

1937-D 5C MS68 NGC. The regular-issue 1937-D Buffalo nickel is an issue that will never be rare, but it does bask in the reflected glow from its illustrious variety sibling, the 1937-D Three-Legged Buffalo. It is also, for some reason, an issue that occasionally appears with stunning patina and remarkably well-preserved surfaces, as is the case with this MS68 NGC example. This amazing coin boasts concentric rings of lavender in the center, radiating outward to saffron, sunset-orange, magenta, and emerald at the rims, with a similar color palette on both sides. Well-struck surfaces are free of all but trivial marks. Census: 4 in 68 (2 in 68 ), 0 finer (10/14).(Registry values: N2998)
