Description

1937-D Buffalo Nickel, MS64+
Three Legged, FS-901

1937-D 5C Three-Legged, FS-901, MS64+ PCGS. CAC. The 1937-D Three-Legged Buffalo nickel is among the most popular varieties in all of U.S. numismatics, the result of overpolishing of the reverse dies. This satiny Plus-graded Choice example is far more lustrous than usually seen, with attractive pinkish-gray surfaces that are oh so close to a Gem grade. The design elements are sharply detailed on the obverse, but the reverse shows a touch of softness on the bison's shoulder, in addition to the incompleteness on the leg. The overall eye appeal is outstanding. PCGS has graded 66 numerically finer examples (8/16).
