1937-D Three-Legged Nickel, MS66
Pastel Iridescence, FS-901
Among the Finest We Have Seen

1937-D 5C Three-Legged, FS-901, MS66 PCGS. Distinctive pale-tan toning with ice-blue highlights combine with bold mint luster for outstanding eye appeal throughout both sides of this Premium Gem three-legged nickel. A famous Cherrypickers' and Guide Book variety, the 1937-D nickel became a sensation when the bison's missing leg was publicized, creating a new legion of collectors -- along with the later discovery of 1955 doubled die Lincoln cents.

This pleasing example exudes natural visual charm. Vibrant and well-struck for a three-legged nickel despite typically eroded dies, the Mint anomaly is particularly obvious on this coin, with the bison's inside front leg wholly missing from stump to hoof. The preservation is terrific. Population: 14 in 66 (3 in 66+), 0 finer (6/20).
