Beautiful 1938-D Buffalo, MS68

1938-D 5C MS68 ★ NGC. The first Buffalo nickels were coined in 1913, and for 26 years it was a popular and well-liked design. This coin, struck in the 26th year of production, represents the final issue of the design. The new Jefferson nickel design by Felix Schlag made its debut and was on the way to a long production run that is still current today. The '38-D Buffalo that we are offering here is highly attractive with frosty luster and a delightful blend of pale rose, gold, and mint-green toning. The design features are sharp, with a full braid on the obverse and full details on the reverse with no surface distractions. The NGC Census records 15 examples in MS68 with seven of those that have received the coveted MS68 designation (10/09).(Registry values: N1793)
