Description

1938-D Buffalo Nickel, MS68
Top-Grade Final-Year Type Coin

1938-D 5C MS68★ NGC. One of the premier Buffalo nickel issues for type collectors, the 1938-D is easily found in high grades up to the MS67 level. Any finer, the competition becomes fierce. This is an amazing MS68★ example, with a central blush of lavender ringed by yellow-gold. Gleaming mint luster illuminates a sharp strike, with nominal weakness at the bison's shoulder. The eye appeal is fantastic. Only a few1938-Ds could ever be considered equal to or finer than this splendid Superb Gem at NGC and PCGS combined. NGC Census: 6 in 68+, 10 in 68★ , 1 in 68+★ , 0 finer (3/26).(Registry values: N1793)
