1938-D/S Buffalo Nickel, MS68
Important Overmintmark Variety

1938-D/S 5C FS-511 MS68 PCGS. A reverse die with the S mintmark entered was repurposed for the Denver Mint, with the D punched over the S several times. The top of the underlying S is visible at the top of the tripled D. This variety is a rarity in MS68. The current coin displays faintly iridescent brilliance overall with hints of pastel-rainbow and gold along the left hand borders. Luster glistens devoid of abrasions. Population (all D/S varieties included): 7 in 68 (1 in 68+), 0 finer (2/24).
