    Final Matte Proof Issue

    1916 5C PR66 PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint struck a series-low mintage of 600 matte proof Buffalo nickels in 1916, the last year of commercial proof set offerings until 1936. This spectacular Premium Gem exhibits razor-sharp definition on all design elements and the virtually flawless matte surfaces are blanketed in attractive shades of sea-green, lavender, and ice-blue toning. Eye appeal is terrific. PCGS has graded 52 numerically finer examples (5/21).(Registry values: N2998)
