    Scarce Gem 1918-D Nickel

1918-D MS 65 PCGS. A bit softly struck on the obverse, but fully defined on the reverse with complete hair detail on the bison's head and split in the tail. The satin surfaces have a soft, subdued appearance and the original gray-brilliance shows just a hint of light golden patina. Magnification reveals a few small specks of carbon scattered here and there, most of which are limited to the reverse. Population: 33 in 65, only 8 finer (12/97).
