Description

1921 5C Two Feathers, FS-401, MS65 PCGS. Similar to the famous 1937-D Three Legged nickel, the Two Feathers variety was caused by excessive die polishing at the U.S. Mint to eliminate clash marks. Evidence of a die clash remains on the coin, as an elongated lump near the ER in LIBERTY, and a mound within the UR in PLURIBUS. The area where the third feather should be instead displays parallel die polish lines. This is a well struck and lustrous Gem with light straw-gold and olive-green toning. Population: 5 in 65, 2 finer (12/19).
