    1937 Nickel, PR68
End of the Trail for Proofs

1937 5C PR68 NGC. The NGC insert is autographed by former Guide Book editor Ken Bressett. Although business strikes were coined in Denver during 1938, 1937 was the final year of proof Buffalo nickel production. Mintages were tiny by modern proof standards, a mere 5,769 pieces. Since none have been certified by NGC as PR69 or better, the present specimen is about as nice as can be obtained. The brilliant surfaces are pristine and exhibit glassy fields. The centers show slight incompleteness customary for the type. Census: 62 in 68 (1 in 68+, 5 in 68 ), 0 finer (1/20).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 278Z, PCGS# 3996)

    Weight: 5.00 grams

    Metal: 75% Copper, 25% Nickel
