Description
Desirable JR-1 1809 Dime, MS64
1809 10C MS64 PCGS. Ex: Troy Wiseman Collection. JR-1, R.4. The only known die variety for the year. This is the first year of issue for the Capped Bust design dimes, and this example ranks among the finest representatives available. It is typical of all known examples with extremely strong central obverse and reverse design details, and weak peripheral details. The surfaces have splendid lilac and sea-green toning, reminiscent of silver coins from old-time collections. Both sides have full underlying mint frost. The obverse has a prominent die chip with additional die cracks on Liberty's cheek. Notable and important. Population: 4 in 64, 4 finer (5/08).From The Charleston Collection.(Registry values: N4719)
