    Description

    1814 JR-3 Dime, Lustrous MS64
    Clashed Obverse, Shattered Reverse

1814 10C Large Date, JR-3, R.2, MS64 PCGS. A touch of gold runs through the stars on the obverse of this Choice example, with slightly deeper hues of the same on the reverse. The fields are lustrous, although there are some minor dark specks around the periphery of the obverse. Struck from a badly clashed obverse die, with the eagle's wings and the motto ribbon clearly defined in the fields of that die. The reverse die is shattered. An average strike for this issue, with softness on the uppermost curls of Liberty and on the talons of the eagle. Scarce so well-preserved, and free of distracting handling marks. Housed in a green label holder.
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2006), lot 1709.
