    1820 JR-5 Dime, MS65
    Just One Certified Finer

1820 10C Medium 0, JR-5, R.4, MS65 PCGS. There is no end to the confusion about Small 0, Medium 0, and Large 0 designations for the 13 1820 dime varieties. Part of the problem is that both date and denomination digits vary. PCGS calls JR-5 a Small 0 variety, while Heritage terminology suggests it is a Medium 0. Other references consider JR-5 a Large 0. The digit controversy aside, this JR-5 is a lustrous and attractively toned Gem. Blue and amber-gold border toning lightens to light-gold centers. Stars 5, 6, and 7 are softly struck, as are the eagle's talons and arrow fletchings, although the remaining elements are sharply struck from clashed dies. Eye appeal is strong. Population: 1 in 65, 1 finer (1/20). (NGC ID# 236X, Variety PCGS# 38785, Base PCGS# 4493)

    Weight: 2.70 grams

    Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
