Description

Stunning 1821 Dime, JR-9, MS66

1821 10C Small Date MS66 NGC. JR-9, R-2. A plentiful variety in the context of 1821 dimes, the JR-9 die marriage is frequently seen in Mint State grades. However, Premium Gems are few and far between. The central obverse and reverse have deep steel toning, with concentric rings of gold and lilac that confirm its originality. The present offering is only the second auction appearance of any 1821 dime in MS66, dating back to the beginning of our Permanent Auction Archives in January 1993, and it is the first Premium Gem 1821 Small Date dime that we have ever offered. In addition to its wonderful aesthetic appeal, this piece boasts a sharp strike with stunning design details. Census: 2 in 66, 0 finer (3/09).
