    Description

    Elusive 1822 Dime, MS63 NGC

1822 10C MS63 NGC. JR-1, the only variety, R.3. The most elusive date in the Capped Bust dime series, the 1822 is a highly coveted issue in all grades. This date is infrequently seen on the market today, and when encountered is usually no better than Good or Very Good. The majority of examples known are low grade and a substantial number of these are damaged. NGC has certified only ten pieces in all Mint State grades, several of which are possibly duplicates. This mildly prooflike example has light honey-gold color along the borders, while the centers are untoned. The major devices are exquisitely struck, and only the left side stars and the N in UNITED lack sharp definition. The dies are rotated approximately 30 degrees counterclockwise. Opportunities to obtain a Select Uncirculated 1822 Dime are few and far between. (#4497) (Registry values: P7, N9500) (NGC ID# 236Z, PCGS# 4497)

    Weight: 2.70 grams

    Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
