    Description

    1823/2 Large E's Dime, JR-3, MS66
    One of Four Top-Graded Survivors

1823/2 10C Large E's, JR-3, R.2, MS66 NGC. Antique golden-gray patina blankets this Premium Gem 1823/2 example. Accents of lavender, rose, and ice-blue complement the dominant hues, investing each side with marvelous visual quality. From a technical standpoint, the surfaces are virtually flawless with nearly full strike definition and only a few inconsequential grazes.

Variety: JR-3, R.2. The reverse has a Large E punch, and star 7 points to the top of Liberty's headband.

Population Data (9/15): This is the sole finest submission attributed as JR-3 at NGC, and there are two other Premium Gems (one in MS66+ ) tied at the top of the Condition Census at that service, including all varieties. PCGS reports just a single MS66 representative and none finer.

Heritage Commentary: Remarkably, the average certified grade for the Large E's issue is between VF30 and VF35, meaning this Premium Gem is over 32 grade points finer than the typical survivor. This is a not-to-be-missed chance to obtain a top-certified example and an opportunity that may not present itself again for years to come.

    Provenance: Purchased from Duncan Lee (3/2003). (NGC ID# 2372, Variety PCGS# 38804, Base PCGS# 4499)

    Weight: 2.70 grams

    Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
