    Description

Scarce 1823/2 JR-2 Capped Bust Dime

1823/2 10C Large Es JR-2, R.5. Reiver state a. VG10 NGC. Dark gray in the fields with much lighter silver on the devices. Traces of the bottom of a 2 can clearly be seen beneath the 3 in the date. A sharp edge ding resides over the eighth star, but no other surface problems present themselves. The E's on the reverse are slightly too large in relation to the other letters in the legend. The JR-2 variety is by far the scarcest of the three die combinations of the year. A slightly later die state with rim crumbling on the dentils above star ten.
