    Description

    1825 JR-1 Dime, MS64
    Probable Condition Census Specimen

1825 10C MS64 PCGS. JR-1, R.4. Star 8 appears to touch the upper curve of a dentil, and that is diagnostic for this variety, with a reverse having the A in STATES sharply doubled to the left. The reverse was also used for JR-3, but that variety Star 8 centered between the border and cap.
Although much information in the now 30 year old early dime book is out of date, general comments are still valid. The authors noted that very few examples of this variety grade better than XF45, so an MS64 is clearly an important piece. This Choice Mint State specimen is richly toned in gold and emerald, with full underlying mint luster and sharp design motifs. Population: 8 in 64, 8 finer (11/12) for all 1825 varieties.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 2374, PCGS# 4503)

    Weight: 2.70 grams

    Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
