    Description

    Important 1825 JR-1 Dime, MS65
    A Condition Census Contender

1825 10C MS65 NGC. JR-1, R.4. The reported mintage for 1825 was 510,000 dimes, although most students of the series believe that the first 100,000 pieces were dated 1824. Five varieties are known, including three common marriages and two scarce marriages, produced from the combination of four obverse dies and three reverse dies. This lovely Gem has gold, gray, and lilac surfaces with frosty underlying luster. The eagle's head and neck are a trifle weak but all other design elements are bold. The quality of this piece is similar to the MS65 Eliasberg coin. This piece is clearly finer than the Lovejoy specimen, and possibly the second finest known.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2374, PCGS# 4503)

    Weight: 2.70 grams

    Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
