1828 10C Large Date, JR-2, R.3, AU50 PCGS. The old-style Reich obverse was used to strike JR-2, likely after the 1829 JR-1 dimes were struck. Despite die deterioration and several radial die cracks on both sides, the coin is sharp except at the eagle's head. Only minor wear appears on the luminous rose-gold and violet surfaces. Highly appealing. Population (Large Date varieties): 2 in 50, 14 finer (1/16).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2007), lot 2545.
