    Description

    1829 Dime, VF Details
    Extremely Rare JR-10 Variety
    Famous Series 'Stopper'

1829 10C Curl Base 2, JR-10, FS-301, R.6 -- Tooled -- PCGS Genuine. VF Details. Although PCGS estimates 40 pieces to exist, the finest-graded example is a single VF35 coin, and the next finest is a F15 example. Almost all survivors are net-graded coins, with one impairment or another, making a coin with decent eye appeal of primary importance despite the likely problems. This is such an example. It displays VF details but overall corrosion, which has been tooled at one time to minimize some of the heaviest residue. The date area with the all-important Curl 2 appears undisturbed and strongly detailed. The motifs are lighter than the granular fields, for a somewhat pleasing two-tone, silver-gray appearance. This coin is a tremendous rarity in all conditions, and it is prohibitively challenging in any collectible state -- among the rarest issues of the entire Capped Bust series. (NGC ID# 9BHH, Variety PCGS# 38836, Base PCGS# 4512)
