    Description

    1831 JR-5 Dime, MS65
    Late Die State
    Reverse Retained Cud

1831 10C MS65 PCGS. CAC. JR-5, R.1. Although a common variety, this extremely important Gem has a retained cud over UNI in this late die state. Eventually the retained cud progresses to a full cud, and that terminal die state is extremely rare. Autumn-gold, rose-red, and aquamarine toning consumes this fully struck and satiny Gem. This specimen is far the finest we have handled with the retained cud on the reverse, and is the same coin that appeared in our April sale where it was certified MS66 NGC. This is an extremely important opportunity for the advanced variety specialist. Population: 15 in 65, 11 finer (6/13), for all 1831 varieties.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 237B, PCGS# 4520)

    Weight: 2.70 grams

    Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
