    Description

    1833 JR-8 Dime, MS63
    Likely Condition Census

1833 10C MS63 PCGS. CAC. JR-8, R.5. An important variety that is seldom seen in high grades. When the authors of the early dime book compiled their study published 30 years ago, the best they had seen was AU55. No doubt a few higher-grade pieces have appeared since then, such as the present coin, but it is unlikely that more than a half dozen such coins are known today. This Select Mint State specimen has three reverse die cracks, representing an intermediate die state. The surfaces exhibit satin luster beneath violet-gold and iridescent toning with trivial surface marks.(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 237D, PCGS# 4522)

    Weight: 2.70 grams

    Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
