Description

1836 JR-1 Dime, MS61
Sharply Struck, Lightly Toned

1836 10C JR-1, R.3, MS61 NGC. Only three die marriages exist for this later bust date, despite a mintage that approached 1.2 million pieces. Possibly, much of the production was from 1835-dated dies. The present Uncirculated example exhibits an orange-peel texture throughout the fields, caused by dies long in service. Sharply struck and lightly toned with several slender obverse marks.
