1828 10C Small Date, Square Base 2, JR-1, R.2, MS65 PCGS. CAC. The quickest pick-up point in distinguishing this Small Date variety from its Large Date counterpart is the 2 in the date. JR-1 has a Square Base 2, whereas JR-2 has a Curl Base 2. Examples of this type are scarce but obtainable in lower Mint State grades through MS64. Coins in Gem or better condition are major rarities.

This Registry-worthy Capped Bust dime is satiny and fully struck. The surfaces are richly toned in antique gunmetal-gray patina that reveals iridescent accents of blue, violet, rose, green, and peach-orange. Population: 6 in 65, 1 finer. CAC: 3 in 65, 0 finer (11/21).
