    1832 V-12, LM-4 Half Dime, MS65
    Specialist's Study Coin

1832 H10C MS65 NGC. V-12, LM-4, R.4. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The two examples of LM-3 in the Eric P. Newman Collection, along with this example of LM-4, share an obverse die that has cracks from the top of the cap to the rim. The authors of Federal Half Dimes 1792-1837, John W. McCloskey and the late Russell J. Logan, observed that LM-3 was the first use of the obverse, and LM-4 was the second use. However, we recommend that the Capped Bust half dime specialists study these three pieces that might represent a remarriage of the LM-3 die pair. A lovely Gem, this example has vivid blue toning over gray-gold surfaces with satin luster and trivial marks.
    Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $1.75; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 232E, PCGS# 4279)

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
