Gem 1836 Half Dime, V-6, LM-5

1836 H10C Small 5C MS65 NGC. V-6, LM-5, R.2. The LM-5 variety is indicated by the repunched stars 11 and 12, the small 5 in the denomination, and the scroll ending under the right edge of the left upright of M. The present coin is a rare Gem survivor from the large mintage of 1.9 million pieces. The lustrous surfaces are patinated in shades of golden-brown and ice-blue, with more color on the reverse. Both sides display clash marks. Census: 26 in 65, 18 finer (2/11).(Registry values: P1)
