1807 Capped Bust Half Dollar, VF Details
O-111b, Bearded Goddess Variety

1807 50C Capped Bust, Bearded Goddess, O-111b, R.5 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NCS. VF Details. The 5 in the denomination is punched over a 2, and the die crack connecting Liberty's chin to the breast is nearly fully formed -- an identifying mark for the so-called "Bearded Goddess" variety. That crack actually extends up to the eye and through the forecurls on this piece. The design elements are well-worn with better central detail on the obverse. An improper cleaning has rendered each side light silver-gray and moderately hairlined. Areas of deeper gray color are seen.
