Description
1808 50C AU50 NGC. O-109a, R.3. A number of die cracks on the obverse identify this die marriage, the most prominent a crack from the second 8 through the bust, and ending at the rim next to star 6. Clash marks are visible, and an impression of the shield is especially pronounced inside the upright of the L in LIBERTY, which appears serrated. The bust and eagle's wings are somewhat flat, as typically seen, but the stars are nicely detailed. Delightful luster gives this light gray piece excellent eye appeal.
