Description

1808 O-109a Half Dollar, AU55
Collectible Two-Year Type

1808 50C O-109a, R.3, AU55 PCGS. CAC. O-109a has identifying die cracks from star 6 to Liberty's head, through 1,0, and 8 in the date, and across the upper part of STATES. A rich overlay of mixed olive, violet-gray, and antique-gold patina blankets well-preserved surfaces with partial luster glowing from underneath. The late die state of this Choice AU half dollar accounts for merging near the borders, but the central areas show good detail with minor friction over the curls and wingtips. The 1808 is desirable as the second and more available of two First Style Capped Bust half dollar issues. The eagle and portrait were modified in 1809.
