Description

1808/7 O-101 Half Dollar, AU58
Near-Terminal Die State

1808/7 50C O-101, R.1, AU58 NGC. BHNC Die State 101.8. Steel-silver surfaces contain a faint bluish hue. Abrasions are minimal. The 1808 is the second year of the first design type, which was modified in 1809 due to weak striking issues, which the present offering is unusually free of. The overdate is the first of the series as well, and is confined to a single die marriage that broke up rather spectacularly, and the present offering has its deterioration on nearly full display.
