Rare 1809 O-113a Half, VF Details
1809 50C Normal Edge--Improperly Cleaned--NCS. VF Details. O-113a, R.5. The reverse has several fine peripheral die cracks. An elusive variety that is usually found only in low grades, with less than 10 pieces known finer than this coin. Deep gray surfaces with pale gold toning over lightly hairlined surfaces that retain traces of luster on the obverse. The sharpness grade that NCS assigned is somewhat conservative, in our opinion, despite a typical strike with the left (facing) wing nearly flat.(Registry values: N208)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24ES, PCGS# 6092, GSID# 6145)
