Description

1811 50C Small 8 AU58 PCGS. O-111, R.1. A faint die lump below Liberty's ear identifies the obverse, and the IT in UNITED are touching, which is diagnostic for the reverse. Plenty of eye-catching luster radiates from the light gray surfaces of this carefully preserved piece. The stars on the right are sharp, as are the dentils, but there is the typical weakness on the left stars and the tops of the eagle's wings. Both sides show clashmarks in the fields, in addition to a number of tiny die lumps throughout. An interesting and appealing example.
