Description

Attractive 1812/1 Small 8 Half Dollar in MS 63

1812/1 Small 8 MS 63 PCGS. O-102a, R.2. Very well struck despite the intermediate status of the dies, with splendid gray and orange overtones that drastically change to turquoise iridescence about the obverse periphery. The Small 8 is by far the more common overdate variety from this year, but only a small number of Mint State pieces survive, of which this piece slides into the lower end of the Condition Census. Population: 2 in 63, none finer, 4 finer at PCGS (6/99).
